If the checkerboard binding and rosette reminds you of some vintage and limited edition Rickenbackers, that's no coincidence! Fender hired German luthier Roger Rossmeisl, who had designed the ever-iconic 4001 bass and the 300 series models for Rickenbacker, to design the Kingman. A few reissue Kingman models have rosettes that are reminiscent of this, but you won't see a current model with this checkerboard binding.
